Cheesetique Supports Hospitality Staff During Coronavirus Impact

ALEXANDRIA, VA — As the new coronavirus outbreak forces businesses to cut back operations or close, hospitality workers may be left with less or no work. Del Ray-based Cheesetique and its partners want to ensure those workers and their families don’t go hungry.

Family Meal Alexandria is a collaborative effort between Cheesetique and vendors to provide free meals to hospitality workers in Alexandria affected by business cutbacks. Vendors are donating food, while Cheesetique is providing the space and staff to make the meals. Its current partnering vendors include Baldor, Chef’s Warehouse, International Gourmet Foods and Euro USA. The Family Meal Alexandria Facebook page provides daily updates on daily offerings and pickup opportunities.

Cheesetique owner Jill Erber asked for community support for labor and supplies through a GoFundMe page. “We will feed those in need and employ more people in order to prepare and distribute meals. That’s what we call a win/win!” the page reads.

Cheesetique is among the Alexandria restaurants offering takeout and delivery during the coronavirus impact. For more ways to support businesses, see Visit Alexandria’s ALX at Home page.
