Latest Bridgewater Coronavirus Updates: 2 New Deaths

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater Township announced two new deaths and 15 new positive cases of the new coronavirus on Wednesday, according to Somerset County. This brings the township’s total to 11 deaths and 125 cases.

“My thoughts and prayers are with their families and the whole community that is grieving over the loss of our friends and family,” Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench said.

The new coronavirus outbreak in New Jersey and across the nation is having vast impacts in Bridgewater, including the closure of schools and many businesses. The number of cases of the illness caused by the virus, known as COVID-19, continue to rise and additional measures and closures continue to be announced.

As of Wednesday, Somerset County has 1,140 positive cases and 50 deaths.

Gov. Phil Murphy announced 275 deaths and 3,088 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday. This brings the state total to 47,437 and 1,504 deaths. Read more: NJ Coronavirus Updates: Here’s What You Need To Know

SCHOOLS

All Raritan Valley Community College classes will continue online for the remainder of the semester due to the new coronavirus outbreak. MORE.

All schools in Bridgewater will remain closed through at least April 17 in response to the new coronavirus outbreak, state officials said. MORE.

HOSPITALS

Visitors will no longer be allowed at RWJ University Hospital Somerset except under special circumstances to protect the health of patients and staff amid new coronavirus concerns. MORE.

CANCELLATIONS/CLOSURES
