Louis’ Family Restaurant Ready To Reopen Amid Coronavirus

JOLIET, IL— Louis’ Family Restaurant has been one of West Jefferson Street’s favorite dine-in restaurants since it opened in December 1992, but the uncertainty surrounding the new coronavirus outbreak caused the Joliet restaurant to stay closed the past six weeks.

But that will change starting Tuesday.

The owners of Louis’ Family Restaurant, at 1001 W. Jefferson St., notified Joliet Patch they will be reopening for daily business.

“My dad has been checking the answering machine, and people have been calling every day,” the owner’s son, Michael Polimenakos, told Joliet Patch on Monday morning. “We are excited, and we’re happy that today is the first time we can say that we’re reopening.”

Beginning Tuesday, the restaurant will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Customers can call in their breakfast and lunch orders at 815-722-6660 or order through DoorDash.

Employees wearing protective masks and gloves will bring out food orders to the parking lot for takeout orders. Otherwise, customers can have their meals delivered to them through DoorDash, the owner’s son told Patch.

Louis’ Family Restaurant will offer its breakfast special for $5.95 during the week. The meal includes two eggs any style, your choice of bacon, sausage or ham, plus hash browns and your choice of toast or pancakes.

Joliet Patch continues to write about the city’s small local restaurants and businesses during the ongoing health crisis. Patch created a simple survey to let everyone know they are open and their current hours of operation. About 140 Joliet businesses have been added to Patch’s list so far including Louis’ Family Restaurant.
