ORANGE COUNTY, CA —The number of new coronavirus cases increased by 67 on Thursday, the Orange County Health Care Agency reported. A total of 1,079 have tested positive for the virus since the agency began collecting data in Orange County. It is not yet known how many have fully recovered from the COVID-19 disease.
As of Thursday, a total of 17 residents have lost their lives due to the disease. The OC Health Care Agency began reporting percentages of deaths by ethnicity:
“Stay home, except for essential needs, and help flatten the curve,” OC Health Care Agency said.
The number of those hospitalized and in intensive care units in Orange County increased overnight, with 127 people hospitalized. Of those, 63 are listed as still in the ICU. The results include figures from 20 area hospitals out of 25 hospitals that report data to the Orange County Health Care Agency.
“Numbers fluctuate day-by-day due to changes in patient conditions,” according to OC Healthcare’s website. All data is “gathered daily, at one point in time.”
An additional 448 patients were tested since Tuesday, bringing the total of Orange County residents tested for coronavirus to 12,239, according to OC Healthcare.
Public health labs and commercial labs have the ability to test 1,578 more people on Tuesday, they say.
Of those who have died in Orange County:

5 people were between 45-64 years old.
Ten of the deceased were men, and seven were women.

Signs and Symptoms
If you are showing symptoms, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, self-isolate within your home, and stay away from loved ones.
If you are an employer or employee at an essential location, stay home.
“You should self-isolate until you have symptom improvement, and your fever has not returned for 72-hours,” OC Healthcare advises. “Self-isolation should last for at least 7 days.”
If your symptoms get worse, call your doctor. If your symptoms are dire, such as pain in your chest, inability to draw breath, call 911.
