Top Boy’s Kano and Ashley Walters among stars of new GRM Daily documentary series Together We Rise

Top Boy’s Kano and Ashley Walters are among the star-studded line-up for new GRM Daily documentary Together We Rise.

A YouTube original, the series tells the story of how GRM Daily founder Posty, with the help of his peers and other platforms, helped to provide new opportunities to the next generation of musical talent.

GRM Daily, which stands for Grim and Rap Music, is a British urban media outlet and entertainment platform, which also covers genres such as UK drill, afroswing, trap, and British hip hop and UK garage.

The documentary – which also features Skepta, Giggs, Stormzy, Julie Adenuga, Ghetts, Aitch, Ms Banks, JME, D Double E, Zane Lowe and Dizzee Rascal and many more – consists of four parts and will launch its first episode on September 28.

YouTube has now released a trailer for the series, which you can watch above.

The official synopsis for the documentary reads: “Posty’s story is not only a story of excellence within black British business and culture but synonymous with Grime and Rap.

“Seemingly from nowhere with the help of his peers, Posty and his team step up and, in the face of adversity, upheld their own convictions against the odds, succeeding and continuing to do so decades later.”

On the release of the trailer, GRM Daily founder Posty said: “It is exciting to be able to share this first glimpse of the documentary along with its story of the journey that GRM Daily has taken and how with, the help of artists and the community, collectively helped to put UK rap music on the map.

Kate Shepherd, managing director Warner Music Entertainment, added: “The history of GRM Daily is a truly remarkable story and one we felt needed to be told.

“Posty and his team are at the foundation of a scene that has taken over the mainstream. This documentary gives a fascinating insight into how they built a culture and a business against all odds.”

Together We Rise will launch its first episode on YouTube on September 28.
